KVM switches!

I have a Dell Latitude D600 docked in a PR01X Port Replicator with PS/2 and USB ports, a brand spankin' new Dell Optiplex GX280 with no PS/2 ports, a brand spankin' new Dell USB multimedia keyboard, and a generic USB mouse.  I need a KVM switch that will work.

I have an IOGEAR 2-port USB KVM Switch (Model #GCS632U) hooked up to the entire mess and voila', everything works...unless of course, I would like the keyboard when using my laptop.  I've found that if I hook the KVM directly to the laptop, it works fine.  If I try to route it through the port replicator, all but the keyboard will work.

Any suggestions?  I'm open for purchasing a different KVM if you know of one that will work...  Apparently, I need a KVM that has USB connections for the console and one PS/2 equipped computer (the port replicator) and one USB equipped computer (the Optiplex GX2809).

I've tried getting USB to PS/2 and PS/2 to USB adapters for the whole mess but, alas, that didn't do the trick.

Thanks!

Interesting...

I bought a 2 port USB KVM switch (D-Link DKVM-2U) from Dell to use between my two Dell machines (Latitude D600 w/D-port and a GX280).  Everything worked fine so long as I used a Dell supplied mouse.  But the second I tried to use the Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer 4, it would (if I remember correctly) kill all mouse and keyboard input.

Reading the posts, I'm not entirely sure if this is a similar problem or another animal all-together.  I might have to pick up a USB hub and try it anyway.

I have the same situation as BJGuckian.  Latitude 610, PR01X dock and IOGear 2-port USB KVM Switch (Model #GCS632U).  Used Phil's USB hub workaround and it worked great!  Only difference is my hub requires two connections for power and connectivity, so I plugged it directly into the dock instead of the IOGear KVM, then plugged the KVM usb connection into the hub with the same results.  No more problem.  Thanks Phil!

I'm writing this so that if enough of us post the problem, Dell will finally look at the issue with their dock.

You guys RULE!! This worked for my 600m and port replicator (with a 2005 FPW and an IOGear 1764 4-port DVI switch). My issue was that it didn't recognize the keyboard; mouse is OK so far. Made it tough to log in...

Nice how my ANCIENT PC running xp pro needed only a vid driver update, and my Mac G4 needed nothing at all to play nice with the KVM, but the relatively much newer laptop and replicator needed a silly extra (and very old) piece of hardware to fix.

Thanks for the help!
