Hi Josekz123,

The driver you would need to install is Intel HD Graphics, HD Graphics 3000, Intel HD Graphic, v.8.15.10.2342, A06. There isn't any newer version available. Please try installing the driver and share the findings.

Hi Josekz123,

This seems to be a possible video driver issue. I would suggest a clean re-installation of the video drivers. That is, uninstalling and re-installing the video drivers. Here are the steps:

  • Open Device Manager (Start -- Control Panel -- Device Manager).
  • Expand the tab for Display Adapters and right click the video card.
  • From the drop down menu, select “Uninstall”.
  • Ensure to check the box “Delete driver software for this device”.
  • Restart the computer.
  • Once the drivers are uninstalled, re-install the latest drivers Video drivers -> choose the operating system -> expand Video -> Download Intel Graphics Driver
  • Restart the computer and check the functionality.

Please reply with the findings.

Excuse me if I'm wrong, i just see one Intel HD 3000 Driver, and it's from 4/21/2011,

Intel HD Graphics, HD Graphics 3000, Intel HD Graphic, v.8.15.10.2342, A06. I have tried doing this, Uninstalling the Video Card driver, enter in safe mode, and install it again, but i was using the Intel Hd 3000 newest driver, i'll try with this driver, from 2011, if there is a new driver for L502x, let me know.

I'll do the steps from above, and try if the problem continues, thank you.

Hi Josekz123,

If you experience the same issue after installing the drivers, please try the following steps:

Try running the LCD BIST. To run LCD BIST (Built in Self-test):

  • Power off the computer
  • Press and hold the D key on the keyboard while pressing the power button, then release both at the same time.
  • This will initiate A grey screen, then Red, then Blue, then Green, then White
  • Check if the screen turns off.

Alternatively, check in BIOS. Power off the computer -> restart the computer, tap F2 on the Dell logo -> Once you are on the BIOS screen, wait on this screen for some time and check if the screen turns off.

Please reply with the findings.

I've been using the computer, as usual, and the screen keeps doing those random flashings! :S...

Do you think it could be a Hardware problem?... I doubt it because it says Display Driver stopped working.

Hi Josekz123,

It doesn't seem to be hardware issue. Most likely, its related with the software part of the computer. Since, the issue still persists, it is advisable to perform PC restore, which means taking the computer back to factory defaults to eradicate any software issues.

Note: This step leads to complete data loss including pictures, music files, videos, documents and applications. Please disconnect any external peripherals as well.

To perform PC restore:

  • Restart PC, press 3-4 times when the Dell logo appears.
  • Advanced Boot Options menu appears, ‘Repair your Computer' is highlighted, press Enter. (Use the arrow keys to highlight your choice)
  • Windows is loading files screen appears. Wait for it to load.
  • System Recovery Options prompt appears. Specify the language and keyboard input that you want, and then click ‘Next’.
  • Log in as a user who has administrative credentials; select the username from the drop-down list, type the password and click OK.
  • Choose a Recovery Tool Window appears, select Dell Data Safe Restore and Emergency Backup.
  • The Welcome screen will show 2 options; Restore computer and preserve my new or changed files and Select other System Backup and more options. Select the second option (Select other System Backup and more options) and click Next.
  • The next window shows these options; Backup Files and folders and Restore my computer. Select ‘Restore my computer’.
  • Select the Factory Image and click ‘Next’.
  • The next window shows 2 options; 'Preserve new or changed files before restoring to selected System Backup' and 'Restore without preserving new or changed files'. Select the second option (Restore without preserving new or changed files) and click Next.
  • A prompt appears stating that your computer is about to be restored all data currently on your computer will be deleted and replaced with your selected Full System Backup. If an Emergency File & Folder Backup was created, it will still be saved at the location you selected. Click 'Yes, continue' and click Next.
  • PC restore will initiate. Once done, click Restart.
  • Follow the onscreen instructions to create a user account

Please reply if you have any questions.
