Latitude 5430 / 6430 Random Freezing
Our organization uses both the 6430 and 5430 as the laptop standard pending what the position being filled is. Previously we were using 5420's and we ran into the exact same issue with freezing. Since then we contacted Dell support and our Account Rep got our systems replaced unit for unit due to the excessive failure of the 5420's making it impossible to work through the day.
We have replaced the 5420's with 5430's and 6430's and we continue to see random freezing. We are running the following:
6430
- Windows 7 x64
- Bios A13
- 8GB of RAM
- Office 2010
5430
- Windows 7 x64
- Bios A12
- 8GB of RAM
- Office 2010
Each model has the same issue as the old 5420's in that it freezes randomly for no apparent reason. This happens to clients several times a day. Has anyone else experienced this issue with these models? If so, what did you do to address the issue. To my knowledge Dell is VERY aware of the ESD issue that exists with the 5420 model. This appears to be more carry over of the same.

Hi
We're having the same issues with E5430.
Some times it is freezing, you can move the mouse but u can't click anything.
Hdd activity LED is on during the whole time it is in "freeze" mode.
Sometimes it takes only few secons but sometimes up to 15 minutes where you can't do anything ...
No failure in event log
Updates all drivers to newest one
Would be nice got get any fix for this ...
System:
E530
Win7 x32
128 GB Samsung OEM SSD
Latest Bios Version (A15?)
Office 2010
Anybody else an idea ?

I was able to resolve the problem with freezing on both the Dell 5430 and 6430 models. Here's what we did:
1. Go to Control Panel / Power Options
2. Select High Performance
3. Select Change Plan Settings
4. Select Change Advanced Power Settings
5. Scroll until you see USB Settings
6. Disable both On Battery and Plugged In
Your laptop should now perform without freezes from this point forward.
The problem stems from the not ready for prime time Extensible USB 3.0 and the mother board power to the USB host. By not allowing it to turn on and off via Suspending the USB you no longer have the problem of docking and undocking or random freezing.

Latitude E5450
Works perfect with OEM HDD, but freezes exactly as described, if upgraded to SSD.
I've tried three solid disks with win7x64sp1, win10x64, and even Ubuntu 14.04 x64
Intel 535 120Gb (Latest FW RG21)
Intel 535 240Gb (Latest FW RG21)
Kingston SSDNow V300 Latest fw too, but don't remember the number now.
Switching of all of power-saving functions in performance profile and even through the BIOS, doesn't help.
Talked to the Russian Dell helpdesk.. the guy sais there is a good chance, that SATA HDD cabel connector is the causer.
Well, I've examined it with multimeter and a pin-out map, but found no issues to it, though this cable is a *** interface solution by it self. Wires are so thin, that I just couldn't mesure their coper core. Tx-Rx lines are not shielded from one-another. I guess the cable has a coiled structure, but it's just too thin for 500Mb/s SSD throughput. But might be enough for 120Gb/s with HDD.
