Latitude 5480 memory upgrade problem
I have a Latitude 5480 came with 4GB memory and quad core (i7-7820HQ). I want to upgrade the memory to 32GB. According to the Owner's manual, it can support "4 GB and a maximum of 32 GB DDR4 memory, up to 2400 MHz (quad core)."
So I got two Ballistix Sport LT 16GB DDR4-2400 SODIMM [http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/bls16g4s240fsd] but cannot get them to work. When it failed, it would not boot and the status light kept blinking. Here is the result:
| Status | DIMM A | DIMM B |
| Good | 4GB | none |
| Good | none | 4GB |
| Good | 16GB | 4GB |
| Failed | 4GB | 16GB |
| Failed | 16GB | none |
| Failed | none | 16GB |
| Failed | 16GB | 16GB |
I tried both 16GB memories above to be sure I am not getting a bad part. So the most I can get is 20GB with one unique setup. Anybody has any idea?
BIOS version is 1.1.1
Here is the dmi info for the 4GB-16GB combo config:
| # dmidecode 3.0 Getting SMBIOS data from sysfs. Handle 0x0045, DMI type 16, 23 bytes Handle 0x0046, DMI type 17, 40 bytes Handle 0x0047, DMI type 17, 40 bytes |
