Latitude 7470 no sound

I just installed windows 7 on this laptop and all the devices in the device manager are installed and up to date but I have no sound in windows. The speaker has a red X on it and says "no audio output device installed". I have downloaded and installed the realtek audio driver from the dell site and it still does not work. The sound works fine outside of windows and it tests ok in the diagnostic test. I have reinstalled windows 7(64 bit enterprise) and it still does not work. I have ran all windows updates and nothing, still no sound. Please help!

I upgraded the bios to v 1.6.3, then went in to bios settings. Under System Configuration there should be an audio section. Make sure the audio is enabled. Then boot windows, once windows loads the drivers should install on there own.

Hi CNEW0181

Thanks for writing to us.

Do we see any exclamation mark in device manager?

Are you talking about the speaker diagnostics or just the generic test on all the hardware during which you hear the sound?

If there is a red cross on the volume icon which means either the system is not detecting the speakers or the drivers are not installed.

Do provide us your system tag#, email address and name via private message,by clicking on my name in blue and then select send a private message

Regards

Hi,

I have exactly the same issue as above with laptop e7470. Integrated speakers are even not visible in Device manager. I have a fresh installation of Windows 7 Enterprise installed too (some intra-corporate version). I installed latest BIOS and Audio drivers, but it did not help.

Thanks for helping me

Hi,

yes, now it is working fine. Before BIOS update audio was enabled in BIOS but not working. After BIOS update audio was disabled (and I didn't notice it). After enabling it, everything is working just fine.

Thank for helping me!
