Latitude C600 model PP01L problem installing an internal wireless card TrueMobile 1150

I was able to install the card in the laptop but I can't seem to find the wires that connect to the card. Does this model of C600 come with those or is there something else I need to buy to get this card working. Any help would be GREAT!!!!

If you look at the metal cross bar right near the MiniPCI slot you will see a wire attached to the bar and a small socket. That is the antenna for the use of a internal wireless card. You need a jumper wire with a connector on both ends. One to connect to the wireless card and one to connect to that socket mounted on the bar.  Do a search on eBay and you should find one.

Personally I have stopped using internal wireless cards in all my notebooks as they add a bit of heat to the unit in the wrong places. On the C6xx/i4xxx series right next to the memory and just below the GPU (Graphic card) and on the C8xx/i8xxx series the wireless card is directly under the hard drive causing the hard drive to get much hotter then it does without a wireless card installed.

Will I still be able to use the onboard network card for LAN access with a CAT5 cable?

No because there is NO on board LAN card on a C600. The C600 uses a MiniPCI card for either or both LAN and dialup modem, the latter is a combo card that has both a NIC and modem on it. Once you occupy that MiniPCI slot with a wireless card you can't use the Ethernet socket, RJ45, or the phone/modem socket, RJ11, on the right hand side. They won't work, NO NIC or modem installed.

QUESTION

Did you have to take a card out of that slot to install the wireless card?

If you didn't then those socket on the side wouldn't of worked anyway. You can get a PCMCIA (PC) slot NIC and modem. In fact if you want a PCMCIA modem PM (personal message) me and I'll give you my address, you send me a self addressed and stamped shipping bag/pouch and I'll send you one. I've got 4-6 that I'll never use.
