Latitude D430 + Samsung SyncMaster 204BW

Hi, I just received my new D430 laptop and connected it to my Samsung SyncMaster 204BW via the Dport docking station. 1. It does not support DVI connection and I must connect the analog ports :-( - Did I miss something here. The Dport has a DVI port, the Monitor has a DVI port, but it seems that it is not supported by the D430 (I tried both cables, only the analog allows anything to display on the Samsung) 2. I can not get the Video card to be set to the best resolution for this monitor, which is 1680x1050. I can select 1280x1024, 1400x1050 and 1600x1200 but not the exact resolution my monitor supports. I bet this is the same for the widescreen Dell monitors which are at their best on 1680x1050. So this is not due to the monitor brand or model. What do I need to do/install to get the D430 to let me select the adequate resolution for my LCD? Is it hopeless? Thanks, Vincent

As you can see the monitor is installed and identified. The supported modes do not come fom the Samsung driver, but from the Laptop. To test that I installed the driver for my Dell 228ws LCD that supports the same resolution (1680x1050) and works just fine with my desktop (a Dell E521). Same limitation.

I even refreshed the Intel graphic card driver with no effect. The crazy thing is that the graphic adapter lists an even higher resolution (1600x1200, that's more pixels).

Any other suggestion? They are all welcome.

Vincent

Anyone from Dell here?

So I understand from your message that
1. the D430 should support DVI.
2. the D430 should support my monitor at 1680x1050

If this is not correct, let me know.

I will try tonight with my Dell LCD (228ws) at home that has the same characteristics as the the Samsung.

vlasfarg:

Can you confirm if a second monitor is unable to receive DVI as well?

Also, have you contacted Technical Support yet on this issue?

If they are unable to assist, send me a Private Message with the following information.

Ok. It works great (DVI at the top 1680x1050 resolution) on my 228ws DELL LCD at home. So something is wrong with the Dport or the Samsung LCD at the office.
