Latitude D800 Hardware Help Please (network controller)
Hello,
I am helping a friend with a 2nd hand dell Latitude Laptop he just purchased. He attempted to hook it up wirelessly to he network and couldn't do it, called me and upon further investigation I realized that there 5 unrecognized devices in the device manager (audio, video, base system, ethernet, network controller). I have managed to find and install drivers for 4 out of the 5 and am able to get on the internet with an ethernet cable. The lone holdout that I have not been able to figure out is the network controller, not only does it have the yellow question mark next to it in other devices but it also have the dreaded exclamation point on the yellow question mark.
I am thinking the network controller is actually the built-in wireless card but I have tried to install several different wireless drivers listed for D800 and have not been able to solve the problem.
Any help or advice is greatly appreciated
Thanks
Mike

Open the compartment marked "C" on the bottom of the sysetm. You'll find the wireless card -- read the Dell label to find out the model.
Also be sure you've installed the chipset driver and Dell notebook sysetm software BEFORE you attempt to install the wireless driver.

I will do that tonight when I get home from work. Thank you for the help. I know I installed the chipset last night, I don't remember whether I did the Dell system software though. I will install that and then open the compartment for the wireless card.
I'll post back one way or another
Thanks for the help

possibly check into the bios to see if wireless card is enabled.
if it does not work properly, try dell diagnostic from you resource cd or boot into your dell partition with f12 at dell logo. you can also press fn when your power up your unit to load a psa diagnostic, refuse further memory diagnostic and then it will boot to dell diagnostic with is an improve diagnostic.
you re welcome
