Latitude D830?

Does anyone know if or when Dell will release the next model after Latitude D820?  I love everything about D820 except for its available video cards.  It scores terrible on 3dMark06.  I know it's desiged for business, but I like to know that I can play games (old or new) once in a while...  I noticed that Dell usually releases new models around Feb-Apr of each year and am wondering if it will be the same case with Latitude D series and hopefully it will have a better video card than nVidia NVS series.

If you're looking for a laptop capable of gaming, I'd suggest looking at gaming laptops.  It's unfortunate the price difference is vast between normal and gaming laptops...but this is life unfortunately.

Also, if you're playing "old video games" as you say, you certainly don't need to score high on 3dmark06 to play them.

The main purpose of this laptop would be for business with occasional gaming on the side.  Also, I have always liked the Latitude line of notebooks with its solid build quality and much better tech support vs. Inspiron line with its notoriously lousy farmed out support.  Thanks for your input, though.  By the way, do you have any idea when the next line of Latitude D series will be coming out?

Don't expect new Latitude models any time soon. Dell generally updates those products soon after Intel releases a new mobile chipset. The next new mobile chipset is due in Q2 2007.

I would guess the next chip to go into a latitude would be the Core 2 Duo if they keep using intel chips (which they should since the core 2 duo is leaps and bounds better than anything else made by anybody).
The next chip intel will make is irrelevant since it won't make it to a mid-ranged notebook anyway.

Do you know what the next chip model is called?  Where can I find more information on it?  I went to Intel website to find the roadmap and wasn't able to.  Thanks.

Um....hello? Latitudes have the core 2 duo chips available NOW: http://www.dell.com/content/products/features.aspx/latit_d820?c=us&cs=04&l=en&s=bsd

Infact the core 2 duo chips have been available in the latitude line for several months.

A bit of Googling yielded an official release date for the D830 as April 26, 2007.

Still not there...

Anyone have an idea when?

Or if this iteration will have a decent video card like the D800/D810 vs the emasculated D820.

6.5lb, 15" wide screen, good battery life, decent graphics card...  I want to replace both of my D800s but the D820 won't do and 17" is too big. I'm hoping the D830 is it...

I guess the main question is whether NVS140m will be based on g86 and support dx10.

Looks like this "dude" won't be gettin' a Dell...major disappointment on the video subsystem...too bad, as it's otherwise a nice machine.
