Latitude E5510 Controllers Problem
Bus SM
PCI simple communications
I have a friend's Latitude E5510. Its hard drive collapsed so I replace it with a new one.
I had to install a new Windows Vista Home Basic O.S. (Spanish 32 bits version) since I don't have the original disks. I registered the new O.S.
The laptop had, at this moment, several hardware pieces, among them, both NIC (Ethernet and Wireless), under "other devices" and without a controller.
Using my PC I went to DELL's support web page and using the laptop service tag I asked for drivers. I downloaded everything I was offered and Installed them in the following order:
E5510A10.EXE (BIOS Update)
E5510A11.exe (BIOS Update)
E5510A12.EXE (BIOS Update)
E5510A13.exe (BIOS Update)
E5510A14.exe (BIOS Update)
E5510A15.exe (BIOS Update)
E5510A16.exe (BIOS Update)
RCHTX_WN_2.00.10.34_A11.EXE (Chipset update)
APP_WIN_R312260.EXE
ALPS_MULTI-TOUCH-TOUCHPAD_A06_GGY5W_SETUP_ZPE.exe
YXVKJ_WN_8.15.10.2993_A11.EXE (Video update)
R304505.exe (DVD update)
WD35F_WN_5.100.235.12_A37.EXE (Wireless NIC Update)
After installing all previous drivers and software, the laptop was left with this problems in the device manager (under "Other devices"):
Bus SM Controller
Ethernet controller
PCI simple communications controller
I still don't know what NIC is in the system. I tried opening the laptop's original configuration page, but it does not mention the NIC.
In Dell's support web site I found the laptop's NIC could be a Broadcom 57xx. I downloaded a driver for Broadcom 57xx Gigabit Integrated Controller (R260700.exe) but it is for a 64 bits O.S.
Then I found the laptop's NIC could also be an Intel 825xx. I downloaded the Intel_825xx-Gigabit-Platform_A00_R291627.exe and tried it, but it said there was no Intel NIC in my system.
I tried using DellSystemDetect.exe but it did not help.
I installed MyDell (aulauncherMyDell.exe) and it did not help either. It reports correctly there are three devices without controllers, but only offers the device properties window to look for them and none of them find its drivers.
I found and installed the 32 bits driver for Broadcom (Broadcom_57xx-Gigabit-Platform_A00_R291627.exe. It allowed to be installed, but the same three devices appeared under "other devices" without controller.
I tried to add manually the NIC controller going to the folder C:|Dell\Drivers\R291627/Vista and it worked.
I still need to find the controllers for
Bus SM
PCI simple communications
Any help?
