Latitude E5510
I have recently purchased 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 for my Latitude E5510 to upgrade from the 4GB already installed after reading the following document which gives 8gb as the laptop's max:
http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/late5510/en/sfits/sfits_en.pdf
Upon installing however, the A09 BIOS recognises the 8GB but Windows 7 64bit continuesly boots into recovery mode yet finds no errors.
I've tested each of my 3 4GB modules individually and they are all working fine.
Does the E5510 actually support 8GB?

Yes, it does -- did you buy Dell-certified memory, or generic memory?

I believe it's Dell certified Kingston RAM.
Each module functions perfectly on it's own but not when two modules are used.

Did you ever resolve your memory issue? I'm having the same problem with my E5510 and the 8GB of PC3-10600 1333MHz memory that I purchased (Sterling Memory 536T-S which is supposed to be compatible for this model). This is the third brand of memory that I bought for this laptop and nothing has worked - unless you only install a single 4GB module. Even though these units are listed to support 8GB, my Windows 7 x64 laptop boots into Windows Repair mode every time with the full 8GB.
Please let me know if you were able to get 8GB working in your laptop...This is driving me nuts!
Thanks.

I finally managed to sort it by reinstalling windows (sorry, probably not the answer you were hoping for!). My E5510 is now happily running with 8GB.
I think it was something to do with the UEFI boot mechanism. Prior to formatting the drive and reinstalling windows I disabled this in the bios and returned to the Legacy boot option.
Hope this helps.

hello there
I have latitude E5500. For few weeks, its been getting abnormally hot at the touch pad. I have checked the fan, its running but not like it used to speed up after regular intervals like the cooling fan of motor car does (whenever needed).
Is it the fan problem or might be cause of something else??

I have run into the same issue with two Lexar 4GB DDR3 (1333MHz PC3-10600 1066MHz PC3-8500). Rebooting Windows Small Server 2011. Updated the bios and it works. The bios fixes even describes a similar issue. Bios Release Date: 6/2/2011 Version: A10 "1. Fix the failure of the operation system installation with 4GB or above system memory in UEFI mode."
