Latitude E6440 Display Has No Backlight
The backlight on the display of my E6440 died. I can use the computer with an external monitor, but I really need to be able to use the integrated screen. I've read about changing the inverter, but could find no posts that listed the part number of the inverter, so I thought it might be integral with the screen. I replaced the screen but it made no difference.
Is the inverter the next thing to try, and if so, what is the part number?

I do not find any reference to "inverter" on the E6440 parts page? Did you try replacing the LVDS cable (TYXW6 non-touch, W5JMV, 7MGPK HD+ panel).

I just replaced the LCD cable (a much more invasive job than replacing the screen) and it made no difference.

At this point, it's probably about 50-50 that the mainboard or screen is bad. The screen is likely a fraction of the cost of a mainboard, so that would be next to replace. If a new screen doesn't fix the issue, replace the mainboard.
