Linux and ACPI
This is a question for the Linux geeks who hopefully sometimes look in this forum. Does the Inspiron 5100 BIOS control the CPU fan or does the operating system side do it. I'm betting the BIOS does it but I just want a confirmation on this before I dual boot my machine to make sure my fan will kick in while I'm running Linux. Paranoia about my CPU getting overheated is bothering me.
Thanks,
R Rocco

both, i think
seeing as how bios upgrades change fan timings, the bios has the ability to do it. But, seeing as how FanGUI and the dell diagnostic program can control the fan speed, software can do it too.
