Locate my LoJack Registration Number, Inspiron 1525
Help. Absolute says I need to have the registration number and to go back to the mfr. I've called Dell, been on hold for 1.5 hours. Haven't been able to find anyone who can help. I did not receive a CompuTrace, or LoJack CD with original purchase, and this was purchased as a bundle and confirmed on my order documentation.
OK - here's the question. Does anyone know where I can find my LoJack Registration number? It's not the express service code or the service tag... Is it embedded somewhere? The icon was not on the desktop as I've seen either.
This computer is headed off to college and I've tried several times to find out how to do this. Oh - and Absolute's website just sends me back to Dell. :womansad:
Thank you... Hollybmp

Thanks for trying, but I promise you I have not received a 2nd shipment with a CD. I wish the problem were that easy. I've spent another 3 hours on the phone waiting and ended up sending the computer back to college without LoJack registered. This has been most frustrating.
Dell has even suggested the registration number is the express service code (nope) or the service tag (not that code either).
Any more suggestions? Is there a file hidden somewhere that would help? Any other ideas?
Desparately seeking my registration code....

First of all you need to boot the system in Bios and for that You need to hold down teh Fn key and turn on your computer and on the system set up screen go to the security tab and under that you will find the computrace or lojack option....highlight that and on the right hand side you will get enable option so when you hit enter on computrace or lojack ...you can enable it in the bios and then press ESC and press on SAVE/EXIT....The system will be starting up...You were supposed to get a lojack cd but if u didnot then look for the lojac software in the C:/ drive under program files or explore the C:/ Drive for that computrace or lojack software and run that software from theer and it will take you the lojack wensite where you need to register the prooduct.......
Let me know if that works.....
AND MORE IMPORTANTLY IF YOU DONT FIND THE LOJACK OPTION IN BIOPS UNDER SECURITY TAB...IT MEANS YOU COMPUTER WAS NEVER CONFIGURED FOR LOJACK AND YOU CAN ASK FOR THE EXCHANGE...

Onkee,
If I boot up in Start up mode, and go over to the security tab you're saying I should see either a Comutrace or Lojack option. If that's not there, the likelihood is that it's not been installed or activated, right? Would I find the registration number on that tab?
I've been thru the Start | Programs but haven't yet found any sign of either programs in there. It's my understanding if it's running - it's in a "stealth" mode.
Thanks for the suggestions -- I'll give it a try and let you know how it goes!!
