Logitech HS03 V04 Bluetooth Headset Problem with XPS 1330
Hi,
I bought my XPS 1330 at the end of Jan. 2008 and noticed that my Bluetooth headset has a problem with it (I will describe shortly). Since the headset worked perfectly with my older laptop with Windows XP, I first thought itis because of Vista. But then I recognized that many people have the same problem and the problem has been discussed in different forums, however I could not find any solution fitting into my condition.
Here is the problem: I had set up my headset successfully and can connect it to my laptop manually. But, I would expect the headset to connect to my laptop automatically whenever I turn it on. It doesn't happen. I turn on the headset. Then right click on the Bluetooth icon on the system tray and select "Show Bluetooth Devices". Then navigate to the "Audio" tab and connect the device manually. Then everything works fine. But I have to do this everytime I turn on my headset (Logitech HS03 V04). I have also noticed this: I turn on the headset but not connect it manually yet. I click "Show Bluetooth Devices" and navigate to the "Devices" tab. Select my headset and click the Properties button and navigate to the "Services" tab. Laptop finds the servies offered by the headset. I just press "Cancel" without doing anything. I see that under the definition of the device i the "Devics" tab (Logitech HS03 V04 Passkey enabled) it is written "Connected". This is only for a few seconds and then it dissapears and the headset is not connected. This is a very annoying problem that I see people face with Dell XPS 1330.
My Dell Wireless 355 Module with Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR Technology with trace filter driver version is 6.0.1.2500 ad I have recently downloaded this driver and updated my Bluetooth driver manually (since Vista does not find any updates automatically). Here is the downoad link: http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?os=WLH&osl=EN&catid=5&impid=-1&servicetag=&SystemID=XPS_M1330&hidos=WLH&hidlang=en
I urgently need help on this issue.
Best regards.
Bonus: There is this other problem described in http://www.dellcommunity.com/supportforums/board/message?board.id=Tech_Talk_XPS_Laptop&message.id=12069&query.id=28147#M12069 about the same setup. But this is not my prioroty right now.

It's a shame Dell doesn't update their bluetooth drivers for the Dell Wireless 355 module.
I haven't seen your error, but I've discovered some reproducable BSOD with this particular 6.0.1.2500 version and this Dell Wireless 355 module. I fixed it by updating the driver with modules extracted from more uptodate versions of the Bluetooth stack. After fixing it, I informed Dell in February 2008, but an update to the drivers never showed up.
The most recent version of the 6.0.1 branch was 6.0.1.6300 that I found. And the latest of the more recent branches ae is 6.1.0.4500.
In any case I would contact Dell.
A more practical solution is to get Dell Wireless 360 (does it fit into your laptop) and install this one. I think it uses the Microsoft Bluetooth profile extensions part of the Microsoft Vista Profile Pack:

7oby thanks for the response, but updating the driver did not work either. I will probably contact Dell for this issue. It is very annoying.

Hi, I installed 62bm07ww.exe from the below address and MY problem has been solved. So those who live the same problem with a XPS1330 can probably do the same, unless someone comments on the drawbacks of the action.

I should mention my dissapointment from the Dell support team about solving my issue, by the way. I had to figure out everything by myself.

It's fine to install the IBM drivers. The advantage is that you benefit from bugfixes in the more recent versions. There aren't any big disadvantages. One minor is that drivers from other companies don't contain Firmware updates for the bluetooth modules of Dell's hardware. But since Dell didn't update their 355 bluetooth module and didn't come up with a more recent firmware (I checked most other Dell notebooks with this module) this isn't a disadvantage.
Another minor "difference" is that the more recent drivers don't contain support for as many bluetooth modules (e.g. CSR type ones). Since the 355 bluetooth modules doesn't have a good range, I'm sometimes using other bluetooth dongles when required. Those work with some drivers but not with the most recent ones.
Anyway. If you want/need even more uptodate drivers check
6.0.1.6300 from:

I had two problems:
1. Logitech HS03 V04 Bluetooth headset was not recognized when I switch on the headset.
2. My Vista machine would crash during a video/ voice call using Skype.
After the driver update I mentione above both of these problems are solved. I would like to thank 7oby for his close attention to the subject. Since my two problems are solved, I will follow the motto: "If ti works, don't fix it!" I just hope Dell will be more responsible about the products they release and support them better.
