Microsoft actually has an issue regarding that. Click on this link:

Thanks but I've read this and similar explanation (one of those cited in my question), and I'm not sure if it's the same issue with XP )Pro or Home). I thought the XP was an NT based system... Quite a novice about it.

Anyway, I'll try to install the latest drivers from Logitech and see what happens. Otherwise I might use the advice from someone else from this forum (sorry I didn't save his name or thread....) :

"I noticed that the problem went away after uninstallnig my mouse driver.  I bought a logitech infrared wheel mouse and installed the driver from their CD: Mouseware 9.76.  This causes the problem, and the problem goes away when this is uninstalled.  Ican still just use the mouse as plug and play, and the sound works fine even after standby.  Installing the software on the Logitech CD is the problem.  For safe measure, I cleaned my hard drive to get rid of any residue left from the Logitech software.  The software is not necessary for proper operation of the mouse"

This could also be a solution...

Best regards,
