M2800 runs very hot

I just got my m2800. It has an i7-4810mq

cpu.  Even just loading some software

the air coming out the fan vent was 136

degrees!  Airflow is not obstructed.

I get

uncomfortable working on it.

Is this normal?

Thanks

Hi Nlehrer54 ,

To confirm if the hot air coming out of the system is from the CPU or a GPU ( if the system has one ) I would ask you to confirm if you have initiated the Dell diagnostics on the system ,based on the error code we can conclude the faulty component involved .

I would also recommend you to clear the air vents as dust accumulation can be one of the reasons of system overheating .Click here for link to the manual which might of assistance to you while cleaning the air vents .

Also update the system BIOS as a corrupt BIOS can also cause this issue.

If there are any more queries do reply to  this post .

Awaiting your response .

hi,

thanks for response.

software shows CPU temp quickly goes to 180 degrees Fahrenheit when under small load like doing McAfee scan.  GPU is fine.  air from fan is 130 degrees which makes me hot.

vents should be fine, i just got this machine.

bios is current.

heat sink for cpu is being  replaced today.
