***Manufacturer mode** press FN-X on every boot up

I have a Inspirion 1564 with windows 7 laptop. No new software. but everytime turn on the laptop it starts with the Manufaturer mode thing and hit Fn-x to exit. I do that and it works normally fine until the next boot up. I tried going into the system setup setup screen (f2) and pressing (ALT)(F) and then it boots normally. I can reboot a few times normal then but after a while it will stat up with the manufacturer mode Fn-x thing again.

The only thing that has changed the past few weeks is the laptop would not turn on with the battery connected a few weeks back. Took it in to a shop and they said there was nothing wrong with it. I tried the setup screen thing without the battery in and it still came up with the manufacturer mode thing after 2 days of normal activity.

Any ideas here? I just went off warrenty a few months ago.

Thanks

Hi jmoxie,

Update BIOS and check if the issue is fixed.

Note:

  1. During BIOS update verify that the computer is connected to an AC Adapter.
  2. Disconnect any third party peripherals connected to the computer before performing BIOS update.
  3. Do not turn off the computer during the BIOS update.
  4. Do not restart the computer during the BIOS update.

Sorry no return my daughter has the laptop at college. I will update Bios when she comes home. Is it easy? Are there directions on how to do it? and if so where are they located? Thanks.
