Beyond bill's suggestion to get an 802.11b card, there is another method if you want TRULY ubiquitous wireless. Verizon (and most of the other carriers as well, but VZW has he best coverage) carries a special card that will log you on anywhere you have a digital signal (pretty much). The service is pricy (like 80/mo), but wil work pretty much anywhere, and is about twice the speed of a modem.
