Memory error on boot (NMI: Parity check/memory parity error)
When I try to boot the Dell Inspiron 9400/E1705 laptop, a bunch of numbers, vertical bars, and symbols fly by against the black screen, and then I get a message "Hardware Malfunction - Call Hardware vendor for support. NMI: Parity check/memory parity error. The system has halted." If the laptop's Start button is pressed again, it can be booted into Windows in "Safe Mode" but then the screen is heavily "pixelated" with a large number of pixels filled with a bluish color, obscuring the view of what is supposed to be displayed on the screen.
We want to find out to where the laptop should be returned to have the hardware problem repaired.

The video card has failed. If your system is under warranty, call Dell for repair. If not, the card will run in the $250 range - you can buy one and install or have a shop install it for you.
