Memory test fails for SLOT 2

I have a Dell Inspiron 15R N5110 with 2x4GB DIMM3 modules on the 2 Slots. I have run the memory tests in all possible ways (From boot diagnostics and within Windows) and it always fails.

Strange part is that if I test with either of my 2 DIMMS on Slot 1, I get no error so I cannot blame any of my 2 DIMMS. However, if I test with either of the 2 DIMMS on Slot 2 I always get error. I believe it was like that since I bought it but my son was using the laptop and he was complaining of some slow performance but I didn't have the chance to check it thoroughly. Is it possible for the Slot 2 to have failed but my system keep working fine? any fix if so (no waranty now)?

Please note that I have latest BIOS, and removed/reinserted the DIMMS and fre firmly seated.

In Windows I get: Advanced Pattern Test Failed WME02-IX0. I also run the advanced test and stress test and I get the following details:

Thanks for your answer. This is what made sense to me as well but I posted here because I've read a similar sonversation of someone who has replaced system board and he had exactly same issue so I'd like to know if there's anyone from Dell here to confirm if it may be a generic failure with this model of boards or maybe a software bug.

The description fits that of a bad memory socket - the fix is a replacement system board.
