Microphone/ Voice Recognition problems

When I first got my dell Inspirion 5150 there was a cool program that allowed me voice recognition and it worked great, but some time between some updates it stopped working.

Symptoms/ Problems include:

• No voice recognition tool bar
• Microphone doesn't work in programs like sound recorder or works horribly
• When I click the Test hardware button under the voice tab in the sound options I get two messages: 1. An error occurred during DirectPlay Voice setup. The error code is 0x80004005 2. Windows cannot execute DpcSetup.exe, use Add/ Remove Programs control panel to install.

I tried adjusting audio acceleration already, help please.
