Microsoft Basic Optical Mouse

I just got a Microsoft Basic Optical Mouse for only $6.99 online, which is a great price; however, when I plugged it into my Inspiron 1100, it is recognized but not installed.  I keep getting missing hidusb.sys and mouhid.sys errors.  Microsoft doesn't have any driver recommendations, but I find it curious that it wouldn't work - since it is a USB mouse.  The mouse doesn't support IntelliPoint software, so what should I do?  Has anyone else had this problem with these mice?  Thanks.

I figured it out.  Apparently my version of XP Home that is running on the laptop was either missing, or had an outdated version of the hidusb.sys, mouclass.sys, and mouhid.sys files.  I copied them from my desktop running XP Pro and now the mouse is working just as well.  I wonder why the files weren't on my laptop (or installed with XP Home)?  Both the touchpad and mouse work in tandem, so there are no problems as far as I can tell.
