Same problem here... Has anyone found a solution yet? This is unacceptable, whether it is Dell's or Microsoft's fault! I will ask Dell for a replacement, since the mouse works flawlessly on other laptops.

I did find a solution.........I purchased another bluetooth mouse (by rocketfish) and it work flawlessly. However, Dell replaced my motherboard three weeks ago (due to NVidia graphics card failure) and every so often it is now beginning to freeze now and then.

My suggestion is to throw away or return the mouse and buy another one. I wasted a lot of time (time = money) on trying to get that mouse to work without success.

Hope that helps.

Thank you very much for your responce that helps a lot. But. This is unacceptable for me since I payed for this mouse and it did not come free... Dell should find a solution, since this mouse is working flawlessly on other machines (other bt adapters).

Since DELL, is aware of this problem, this mouse should mention on its leaflet, that it works with all laptops EXCEPT Dell's. That's the proper way to go.

Maybe Dell's adapters are flawed...

Maybe found the solution.

Downloaded the latest Bluetooth 355 driver, unzipped it and then Update Driver for the Bluetooth Device.

Point it to the folder with the Bluetooth driver and let it update...

I also removed the WIDCOMM Bluetooth stack completely.

I don't know which of the two fixed it, but is seems fixed...

Bluetooth Mouse 5000  -  Drivers – Windows 7 – Dell Laptop

I am running Win 7 64bit on a Dell Vostro 1520.  I replaced the HDD with a SSD and it now behaves beautifully!

After several days of frustration trying to connect my MS Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000, I simply could not get my laptop to pair with the device.  Lack of documentation with the device did not help.

I thought the mouse might be defective but I was able to pair it with a borrowed Win 7 Laptop successfully.

Why not on my Windows 7 system?  I  researched a lot online and finally discovered a solution to the problem.

(Thank you to all the people who provided the various parts of the solution)

Here's the combination which finally resolved the problem:

1.  In Device Manager, Right-Click on everything Bluetooth, and Uninstall every Bluetooth Device.

2. A Reboot re-installed Dell Wireless 365 Bluetooth module and all the HID Devices,  with all the Drivers updated.        Reboot

3. "Power Management".  Right-click on the Bluetooth icon, select Open Settings.  Goto Hardware tab, and select Dell Wireless 365 Bluetooth Module.  Click Properties. In General Tab Click Change Settings.

Goto Power Mangement Tab and unselect "Allow computer to turn off this device".

Reboot

4.  Go to Start, type Services.msc then double click on Bluetooth Support.  Select Startup Type Automatic

Goto Log On tab and select "This Account" and type in LOCAL SERVICE.  Delete both passwords.  OK etc.

(The password in the LOCAL SERVICE can be a null password. --  YMMV…)

Reboot

5. It will then tell you to STOP the service and then to RE-START the service before the change takes effect.

Reboot

6. Go back to Bluetooth Settings and ensure that you select "Allow Bluetooth device to find this computer"

Reboot

7.  Add a Device...  this will load the remaining Device Drivers and Install the Bluetooth Mouse!

Reboot !!

Perhaps some of these Reboots are overkill, but having already spent many days on the problem an extra Reboot  or two was a small price to pay…    and the SSD made the Reboots pretty painless!
