Mini 1010 Print Problem

I am trying to print to printer on my wireless network. I can select the correct printer but when I hit print, it does not print. The "
Collecting Data" message appears but the printer will not print. Any suggestions appreciated!

Rick, Thanks a bunch!! I have fooled with trying to get my Netbook to print to a network printer for days. I went through the Share Files and Printers between Windows 7 and XP and solved the problem within a few minutes.

Thanks, again!!

98bluewave,

What printer???

How is the make and model of your printer connected to the network? If another computer, make and model of the computer and operating system.

What operating system do you have on your Mini?

I'm sorry, I didn't answer all of your question. My Cannon MP390 is connected to a desktop computer with a USB cable. The desktop system is running Windows 7 Home Premium. The desktop is hard wired to a D-Link Router. My Mini is conneted to my wireless network and I'm trying to print to the MP390. Thanks for your response!

98bluewave,

Let's start simple. The printer is not connected to your computer.

Uninstall the printer. Make sure the printer drivers are gone. Manual Printer Driver Removal

Restart your computer.

Download the Vista Drivers from Cannons Website. Try installing the Vista drivers in the compatibility mode.

Right click on the drivers, left click properties, compatibility mode. Select Vista(I used Vista SP2 on my Dell Printer). Then right click on the drivers, left click run as administrator.

What happens?

98bluewave,

Ever since Windows 7 came out, sharing a printer with a host computer seems to be a task. Maybe this will help.

Share Files and Printers between Windows 7 and XP

It's got some basic instructions that might help.

Okay, I will try to keep it simple. My Canon MP390 printer is connected to my desktop computer with a USB cable as I stated. I running Windows 7 on my desktop. My Mini 1010 is connected to my wireless network and I'm trying to print from my Mini 1010 to the MP390 printer. The Mini 1010 is running Windows 7 Starter. The Mini 1010 connects to the network without any problems. And I connected the Mini 1010 to my network printer with the USB cable and was able to print to the MP390.

I followed your last suggestion, downloading the driver from Canon in compatibility mode (Vista SP2) and it still does not work. I continue to receive the message "Cannot detect the printer port". I have uninstalled the drivers several times and reinstalled them from Canon and continue to receive the cannot detect printer port.

I have two other computers connected to my home network and have no problems printing to my network printer. One is running XP the other Windows 7.

That's what happened.
