Mouse Menu Won't Open
Yesterday, the touchpad mouse on my Dell Inspiron stopped being able to scroll either vertically or horizontally. I went to the control panel to check the mouse settings, but when I click to open the Mouse menu, it won't open. I also tried enabling and disabling the touchpad mouse several times with the hot key button and rebooting the computer. I'm running on Windows 7. It's a refurbished Inspiron N7010. A regular wireless mouse can scroll, I'm most concerned about the Mouse menu not being able to open up. Please...any ideas?

Hi
Lets try uninstalling the driver and reinstalling it. To uninstall click on start, right click on computer, click on properties, click on device manager, click on the symbol next to pointing devices, right click on Synaptics touchpad and click on uninstall and confirm it. After its removed install the driver using the link which I gave above, let us know if that worked.
Thank you
Royan

Hi Sailor_sister,
Welcome to the Community. It looks like you do not have the Synaptics touchpad drivers installed on your computer. Use the below link to install it, and let us know if it worked.
Hope this helps.
Thank you

It installed but the touchpad still won't scroll or zoom. I can click and move it around fine...the mouse file still won't open up either. I've had the computer for four days, and until yesterday it would scroll and zoom just fine. After the download and installation, is there anything else I need to do?

Thank you! ^_^ My touchpad is working fine and the Mouse file opens up too! That was very helpful.

I have a Dell I5 inspiron N7010 computer, big screen 17.3 inches. My problem is my touch mouse pad was froze up by soda and now won't work. Any ideas on how to fix with out making more trouble for self. I've been using an external mouse but would like to restore to original condition. ???? <ADMIN NOTE: Email id removed per privacy policy>
