Multiple_IRP_Requests - Blue Screen of Death

This is an E1505 that I've had for a couple of months now.

I've gotten this a few times recently. It always goes back to Microsoft blaming it on a device driver, but it has no idea which one. Then it asks me to reinstall any new hardware, software, etc...

The first time I saw it I hadn't recently installed anything. I seem to be seeing it more and more lately, but nothing I'm doing at the time keys me into what it is. One time I was just browsing a web page.

My only thought could be my Labtec wireless USB mouse. It will get a little skittish at times. That's about all I can think of.

I suggest you try running the Dell diagnostics which you can access by tapping F12 at startup and choose diagnostics from the list.

This should eliminate any hardware problems from your troubleshooting list.

Thanks, I may give that a shot.

Is there a list somewhere of all the different function keys and what they do when used at startup?

Well, I did the diagnostic check and is passed everything (did the extended check). The problem is obviously software related.

I had thought that it may be my wireless USB mouse. I went three days w/o it and no problems. Then today, I was out of the room for 10 minutes and came back to the blue screen - mouse not connected.

I'm at a loss as to what it could be since it was idle at the time and the only programs running were Outlook and Firefox.

Me too! Does misery love company? :(

Bought my E1505 May 12th.

My E1505 running WinXP Media has recently been getting the dread 'Blue Screen of Death' due to MULTIPLE_IRP_COMPLETE_REQUESTS, the most recent event gave the following info: STOP: 0x00000044 (0x85CBF670, 0x00000D62, 0x00000000, 0x00000000). I'm not sure whether these values were the same for the previous 'crashes' or not. I haven't been able to determine the cause, or the situation leading to the problem, which seems to occur 'randomly' and doesn't happen every time I use the E1505. The problem first occurred after I installed a network printer driver, which has been working fine on a Toshiba M70 running WinXP Home. I uninstalled the driver, but the problem has persisted. Any BTDTs or suggestions?

Same problem as everyone else. Blue Screen! Everytime I have installed something and got a blue screen I unistalled whatever it was, just to get a blue screen again!

This is very irritating! Brand new comp with more problems than my laptop that was 6 years old!

I have read several messages w/ people having the same problems with the e1705.

If anyone has a solution, please let me know!

Thanks!

It's early days yet, but I got some advice from another forum. The advice was that the problem was caused by the Dell Bluetooth module installed in my E1505. An updated driver and, probably more important, a reflash of the Bluetooth module firmware is available on the Dell Support site. So far, no BSOD after doing the update about 5 days ago. I sure hope that my typing this doesn't bring on the BSOD. I also took the opportunity to update a number of other drivers that are suitable for my system, even though none of the updates were deemed to be 'critical'. Fingers crossed! As a reference point, do you have the Dell Bluetooth module in your PC?

Yes, I do have bluetooth.

I haven't had the BSOD for a couple of months now, and I haven't updated the bluetooth, or at least I don't think I have. I did do some updates at one point, but I can't remember which they were now.

I've got an interesting new issue though. The first time it happened was a couple of weeks ago. During boot-up, the computer got stuck between the Dell splash screen and the Windows XP screen. All I had was the blinking cursor in the upper left-hand corner. I had to force a shut down to get it to restart. Eventually, with a lot of time, it made it past that point. But it was very slow in transition.

Then, one day it just cruised right through with what seemed to be an incredibly quick boot time. The quick times lasted every boot-up for about a week. Then yesterday it was slow again, although it didn't hang. by slow, I mean over 1 minute of staring at the blinking cursor.

I suspect that you did update the Bluetooth module. The new driver/firmware update was released 6/23/2006, not long after your initial post. Can't help you with the fast/slow/hanging boots.
