N5010 GPU Problem - Laptop doesnt start

When i start the laptop, it powers on, hard disk (or fan, whichever is making the sound) makes the initial vrooomm sound, light of the power button is on, the power indicator LED is on..the hard disk read led is on for a few seconds..cd tray led is fine..but nothing happens - no display on screen, no activity on hard disk..nothing!

tried removing and cleaning RAM chips, etc..the usual stuff. Didnt help.

Then gave it to a dell authorized repair centre (www.renote.de) and they checked it and told me after a few days that it is a GPU problem because of heat and they need to re-solder joints or something and it will cost me EUR100.

Is that right? If i go for it, will it guarantee that it wont recur anytime soon?
