Need Help with a Sprint PC-5740 PCS Connection Card and Inspiron 600m

Yesterday I purchased a Sprint Connection Card PC-5740 made by Qualcomm.
Running WinXP Pro SE2. I installed the Sprint Connection Manager Software
and drivers. I put the card in the PC Cardbus slot, the drivers load properly
and I get the "Your new hardware is ready to use" balloon. The green led flashes
on the card to show it is working. However, when I open the SCM program it does not
recoginize the card in the slot. It reads "Sprint PCS Vision: Insert Your Card".

I have tried uninstalling, reinstalling several times. I was on the phone with a
Sprint Tech for an hour, no other clues as to what to do. I have tried changing
COM ports, with no effect, and there are NO hardware conflicts that I can see.

I did the install in my wife's HP Pavilion ze4610 laptop and it was flawless.
It installed and works perfectly in her laptop, so the the PCS card is good.

Does anyone know of any fixes to this or any suggestions?
If it will not work with my 600m, then it is useless to keep it, so
I might as well return it to Sprint.

Thanks

I've got a Sprint AirCard 580 (1xEV-DO) card that I was using in my Inspiron 9100.  Had known errors with the card always booting up on the first try, however usually worked once I disconnected & retried.

Now... I purchased an Insprion 640m, however the card won't fit into the PCMCI card slot, as Dell built in what's known as an "Express Card", instead of a PCMCI slot.  Now that I've signed a 2 year contract with Sprint, I guess I'm up a creek until I identify a solution.

Card worked great in my old machine!

That does not help me any.
The PC-5740 card fits perfectly into
the card bus slot on my 600m, the SCM program
just does not see the card in there at all.
