Network card not working

I have a LATITUDE e5520 and just noticed today that I've ONLY been connected to the Internet wirelessly. That's why I'm not getting the speed I should be. I have tried various Ethernet cables from the laptop to the router and used the cable from the desktop to the router (that works) and still I can't get any port in the router to light up when connected to the laptop. I have removed the Broadcom device in the devise manager and repaired the installation and still only wireless. Any advice? Thanks, Don
