Hello. Dell does not directly support audio for Win10 on the Inspiron 15R 3521 model, so use this Win8.1 64-bit Realtek driver.  If it will not install or function correctly, install it in compatibility mode:

1. Download and save the audio driver to your desktop.
2. Double click on the new icon on the desktop to extract (unzip) the driver files.
3. The extractor wizard will create a new folder for the driver files. It will be at "c:\dell\drivers\xxxxxx". Write down the exact location that the wizard creates.
4. If the driver begins to install automatically, halt (cancel) the installation.
5. Browse to the driver files on the hard drive (the location you wrote down).
6. Find the "setup.exe" file.
7. Right click on setup.exe to open the context menu.
8. Select the Properties.
9. Select the Compatibility tab.
10. Check the box "run this program in compatibility mode for"... Win8.1.

The version of WavesMaxx software that you get depends on which one is bundled with the driver, so you might want to try the other 2 Realtek audio drivers that Dell has released for your model. They are all on the Inspiron 15R 3521 html page. (The one that says "WB64A" is the 8.1 driver that I linked to.) Just remember to not try to install an older Realtek audio driver over a newer one. For best results completely remove the newer one first.

I have the same problem with my Inspiron 1545. Hey Dell, give me one , just one reason, for not providing us with the right driver that we can use sound and Cd/DVD with Windows 10. It's a shame for Dell. Come on, be at work to avoid we migrate to Apple.

Inspiron 1545

Hello. Dell does not recommend or support Win10 on the Inspiron 1545 model. One of the difficulties is that the company that made the audio hardware and which wrote the audio driver for it, IDT, has gone out of the audio business. However Microsoft claims that Win7 drivers will work with 10 so you should try installing the IDT R264250 audio driver.

Win7.

Cd/DVD

You might want to post a question on the Disk Drives section of this forum. It is out of my area but my understanding is that 10 does not support dvd's like the other operating systems do. I have seen a lot of advice that says to use VLC Media Player to get dvd's to run right in 10. Also, I think Microsoft has released an app to make 10 work with dvd's.
