Nvidia settings tab missing

Hi, I have a C840 with a 32mb NVIDIA card and I’m using Windows xp pro.

I used to connect my laptop to the TV through a S-video cable and watch movies, but suddenly the NVIDIA settings tab disappear from the Advance popup of the Display properties. I notice this change since the last Microsoft update patches (April 11).

I already un-install and re-install the NVIDIA drivers (from dell's page), but the tab is still missing.

Any ideas? Thanks!

You need to do 3 things

1 get directx 9.0c

2 find out where the Laptop or mobile version of the Forcware whql drivers are

3 install the coolbits registry hack.

Thanks for replying.

I have directx 9.0c, I also downloaded the coolbits hack and installed it, but the only option that appears in my desktop context menu is the PowerMixer.

3 things not 2 things.

The Forceware drivers are where the "extra settings come from" ForceWare software supports the entire line of TNT2™ processors, the GeForce™ consumer line of GPUs, the NVIDIA nForce™ platform processors, the NVIDIA Quadro® line of professional GPUs, as well as the full line of NVIDIA mobile processors.

Seems that you only do the parts that you want to.

Note however that Several chipsets are removed from the latest drivers.

You didnt say what chipset your video is.

The TNT, TNT2, QUADRO, M64 VANTA and others are no longer supported.

You may need to reinstall and use 56.72 WHQL drivers.  Those are built into XPSP2.

The following products are not supported in the current ForceWare Release 80 driver.

TNT2
TNT2 Pro
TNT2 Ultra
TNT2 Model 64 (M64)
TNT2 Model 64 (M64) Pro
Vanta
Vanta LT
GeForce 256
GeForce DDR
GeForce2 GTS
GeForce2 Pro
GeForce2 Ti
GeForce2 Ultra
GeForce2 MX Integrated graphics
Quadro
Quadro2 Pro
Quadro2 EX

We are done.

End of support.
