Nvidia video driver stops working

 While I am using my inspiron 1520, the screen goes 'black', but recovers in a couple of seconds with the message at the bottom of the screen, "Nividia driver has stopped working and has recovered", or something to that effect. Is there any updates that would stop this problem? It happen about every 2 hours, but like I said, for only a couple of seconds. I am running windows 8.1.
