Plugged in, Not charging/Battery Not Detected Problem!
I have a Dell Inspiron 1545. I don't want to buy a new laptop since i have a working PC. I just want a laptop so i can take it to places. I've had this problem for quiet a while now. I need the charger plugged in to power up my Laptop. 1 little move and the laptop shuts down since it is stuck at 0% and it won't charge. I am receiving the Plugged in, Not charging error and also time to time it changes to 100% Battery not Detected and then it goes back to the Plugged in, Not charging error. My BIOS is updated i tried deleted the Adapter and installing it and it still doesn't work. I think it might be the Battery fault but if i go on BIOS and look at the Battery options it shows Adapter: Unknown. Does this mean that its my Chargers fault? I want to know since I was thinking about buying a new Battery but I don't want to buy it if its not the problem. Is there anything I should check before thinking about buying a new Battery or Charger? Thanks.

First thing: Try a new OEM Dell adapter. If it's recognized, the battery should charge. If it's not, the battery won't charge (and the adapter is not the issue).
Second: Replace the DC power jack:

If that doesn't solve the problem of the adapter recognition, replace the mainboard.
Once the adapter is recognized, the battery should charge unless something is wrong with the battery.

Thanks for the reply.
I just downloaded a Battery-viewer software which tells you the Battery capacity. And it shows that its on 87.4%. It used a total capacity of 29,699 mWh and it fully charges to 25,885 mWh. So I don't think its the Battery. I just noticed that my charger's pin is gone missing. Could that be the problem? Also after doing some of the Battery resolutions I found on the internet my Battery indicator changes between plugged in not charging to No battery detected. Why is the "No battery detected there since my battery is plugged in.

The pin is required to complete the circuit that identifies the adapter to the system, and allows the battery to charge. Replace the adapter with a new OEM Dell unit and it should solve the problem.

Would it be easier if i could just buy a completely new Charger so that any other problems could be solved?

Do you think i should just buy a new Charger? Since there might be problems with the wires. They seem to be bent.

Are you talking about the pin inside the laptop or the one that is at the end of the charger where you plug it in to charge. Would it be much easier if i could just buy a new Charger? Or isn't it anything to do with the charger?

If the missing pin is on the adapter, replace the adapter.
If it's the jack that's missing the center plug, replace the DC jack board.
