Port replicator compatibility

Hello,

First post from a new user.

I use a Latitude D600 and, sometimes, a PR01X port replicator that works as expected with no issues.

I obtained used a second PR01X intending to have the same functionality at home. The label indicates 2U444.

The D600 does not want to seat and properly and connect physically despite pressing down firmly.  I have used the other replicator often enough that I think it is not user error.

I suspect from other sources, but I could not locate an answer at Dell.com, that the model 2U444 matches a Latitude D610 and that the model I have that works with the D600 may be a  model 2U442, but it is not available for inspection now.

So, is there a documented incompatibility between a Latitude D600 and a PR01X type 2U444.  Not according to Dell's list of compatibility.  So why don't mine connect?  Ideas?  Thanks in advance

The port replicator should be compatible across all D-series laptops. Perhaps there's some damage to the new one? Anything bent?

Nothing bent or broken is observed.

The fit is loose rather than snug and the parts do not engage or lock together

If you compare the two docking ports, are there any differences?

The one that works ok is not available until tomorow or later, but I intend to make a visual comparison and recheck the part number if I can.

Compatibility confirmed and connection established.

The PR01X has an interlock that consists of a slide lock and a pushbutton to undock that only can be moved when the slide is unlocked.

The lock had engaged and I was not familiar with the interlock mechanism.  The locked position prevented docking from occurring.

Solution: move slide to unlocked position.  docking accomplished as designed.

Ah! Glad you figured it out.

I appreciated your continuing interest in this thread and the encouraging suggestions and responses you provided.

I knew about the push button release to undock and I had used it regularly on the other replicator that functioned okay.  I did not understand before now that the mostly recessed slide lock could be engaged inadvertently and that it would prevent docking in the locked position.
