If you received a message that the computer does not recognize the power supply, you would probably just need to replace the power supply. The first thing to do is try you supply on a similar machine and/or check out someone else's on yours. You should also check out the battery in another laptop.
However, because the computer won't boot without the battery present, you may have a problem with the power circuity in the laptop, which means a new system board.
