Power adapter not recognized
Today I connected my power adapter and I got an error saying "The power attached to your notebook is not recognized. Please insert a 180 watt Dell approved power adapter".
I have reciesved this error before, but previously just disconnecting and reconnecting did the job.
Can someone help me?

In warranty: call Dell.
Out of warranty:
Try a new OEM Dell AC adapter first. If that doesn't solve the problem and your system has a replaceable power jack (not all do - if you want to know, post the system model number), replace the DC jack. If the jack isn't replaceable or a jack replacement doesn't solve the problem, the mainboard needs to be replaced.

I forgot that as a result the battery is not charging.

In Warranty: Dell does not cover these problems under warranty. I had a DC jack break (known problem in 555X Inspiron series) on a laptop under warranty but Dell said it was NOT covered by warranty. Said it was customer caused and hung up on me.
