Powerpoint View Slideshow on 2nd Monitor

When I connect a second monitor to my Inspiron 8100, I can drag items over to the second screen, bu I can not view powerpoint '97 slideshow presentations on the second monitor--they automatically show on only the first (primary) monitor.  Is there anything I can do?  I can not change primary monitors. Also, (this may be the same question) how do I get my second monitor to show exactly what is on my primary monitor?  I used to be able to do this on this computer.  Thanks!

I've only just started doing this, but 've been having lots problems trying to get a church multimedia package up and running using dual monitors. After much emailing technical support I have discovered that certain graphics cards like the Intel 82845G card which is installed in my Inspiron 1100 simply do not support dual mode. So the advice I have been given is check your card, if you can upgrade it, try that, or buy a new  laptop or revert back to a desktop, which tends to be more powerful and versatile.
