Hi Ste H,

Thanks for the post! Sound sounds like the AMD drivers and software may not be correctly installed on the system. I would first suggest checking your device manager to make sure the AMD hardware is correctly detected.

Where is Device Manager?

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/where-is-device-manager

If found or requiring a driver update you can download the latest revision from the Dell support site at: http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19?c=us&l=en&s=dhs

If the hardware is not listed in your device manager the next option to check would be in the systems BIOS. To access the BIOS, reboot your system and press the repeatedly when the Dell logo appears on screen. I would suggest toggling the AMD Power Express "Switchable Graphics" option in the Video subsection of the BIOS. (When "Switchable Graphics” is off, the system will disable the Intel video card and function only with the AMD, this will increase the over power consumption of the system, decreasing the battery life while improving video performance.)

NOTE: When installing video drivers, on a clean installation of Windows, with systems that function with both an Intel and AMD/Nvidia card installed, it is recommended to install the Intel video drivers first, followed by AMD/Nvidia.

Ok, I did the above and it seems to be working now. No more going from pro-e to black screen and then back again.

But when I look under device manager, the display is not showing up. How do I know the AMD card is running?

Hi sopmod,

Thanks for the post! Glad the change helped you. I would suggest making sure the latest video card driver is installed and confirm the video being used through the AMD drivers control panel.

After disabling in the BIOS you could also confirm the card being used in the OS by checking the hardware ID of the video controller in the device manager.

Regards,
