Problem restoring studio 1555 to factory settings
Press f8 on startup; no options to restore come up. Sits there, when I hit enter windows error recovery screen comes up. Safe mode...etc or normal. Really need to restore back to beginning. Any help would be greatly appreciated!.

DC8688,
Sorry to hear about the issues you are having trying to restore. If the option to restore does not come up you will need to reinstall Windows Manually. Sometimes the restore will get corrupt and not work.

dc8688,
Did you try tapping F8 at startup?

I'm having the same problem with my 1555 can’t get past the windows error recovery screen, holding F8 doesn't work at all and I didn’t get a windows disc from dell when I ordered the laptop

First thing to do is run an extended hard drive diagnostic -- the hard drive could well be the problem. F12 at powerup.
If the drive fails, replace it with a new, 2.5", 9.5 mm SATA notebook hard drive.
If the extended (NOT just the quick) hard drive diagnostics show nothing, then you will need a disc to proceed. In the US, see the link below. Outside the US you must call Dell.
