Problem with 256MB Kingston RAM / CPt C400
Hello,
I have one problem with my Latitude CPt C400GT.
My Notebook have 128MB RAM insert. I want upgrade the system with one Kingston KTT-SO133/256 RAM.
The RAM have a PC133 timing. The insert RAM in Bank A have a PC100 timing.
An now the problem:
I insert the new RAM in bank a and the system did not start. The display ist still blank an the hdd did not start. After one minute the system shut down.
If I insert the memory in bank b and the old pc100 ram into bank a the system start, but the memory did not work and I have only 64MB.
When the bios during the post, I have this error message: "Memory write/read failure at 04002000, read 000000000 expecting 00EF00EF"
System details:
Dell Latitude CPt C400GT
Bios Revision A14
Intel Celeron 400
Insert Memory: Kingston 64MB PC100
New Memory: Kingston 256 MB PC133

I suspect the Kingston RAM may be defective.
