Problem with Dell Studio 1535
I just bought my Dell Studio 1535 at Best Buy on sale for $799
I am happy with it for the most part but there are some issues that bug me...
1. When my computer goes to sleep, it is like there is no way to wake it back up...i press the power button and the media buttons scan from left to right like they always do...and then the eject button lights up for a few seconds...and then nothing...and then if i press the power button again to try again..the media buttons do not flash.. I have had to force shut down the laptop at least 5 times because of this problem..Does anyone know why this is happening or if there is some simple fix that im missing? The other day the drive would not take disks and I could not get it to eject one once I had restarted and got it to take one. I had to restart it again to get it to eject the disk.
2. The speakers sound horrible... Are there any settings that can be adjusted to correct the distorted high trebles that overpower the speakers?

First thing to do is go HERE.
I would check your driver and BIOS versions to ensure that you have the latest. As you purchased them at BEST BUY they may not be up to date. The BIOS version on the Dell drivers page is dated 7/31/08 and the audio is 6/28/2008 you may not have the latest.
The way to check is type device manager after clicking start, select device manager and then open it. Click on the + signs to drop down the audio, right click on your sound device and click properties, then click driver details and see what version of drivers you have. IF the last four are 6017 then you are ok, if it's less than you can download the latest and this might help with the crackling and popping.
YOu can check your BIOS version and see if you have VERSION A05, if not then follow the instructions to download and update. This new version says, FIXES Fixed CD-Eject abnormally in Vista64 with 4G RAM. This might cure your problem with the abnormal eject also.
You can see your BIOS version by booting and it will show at the Dell Splash Screen, or you can do it without booting HERE

I have the same problem with my Studio 1535. I bought mine directly from Dell. It appears to go to sleep when I close the lid, but I cannot find any instructions for setting this or any options. So that is the first question. Where are the instructions?
Secondly, when I try to revive it from sleep mode, it often does what it is supposed to do, if I touch the power button, but sometimes it doesn't, and just hangs there with a dark screen and nothing works. So I have to force a restart.

the Studio 1535 takes forever to wake. press the power button than wait - and wait some more. It WILL come on. Workaround: when you are using the adapter, turn off sleep mode - just have the display turn off.
as for the speaker issue - I have it as well. the sound is like an old AM radio. I have the latest BIOS and drivers.
still witing for a resolution from Dell.
