Problem with Inspiron 8100 video memory

Question

My inspiron 8100 is suddenly unable to give normal displays (just a variety of colours) but if booted in safe mode theres a normal, though basic display. Diagnostics indicate failure to write or read to video memory. I've remove and reseated the video card and reinstalled drivers with no change. I this the end of my videocard or is there anything I could do?

Sounds like it needs to be replaced. One other thing you should try is an external monitor - if it displays the same fault, the card is shot. If its display is OK, it's a panel problem, not a card problem.
