Problem with cpu on Dell Vostro 1700
Hi guys!
Im having an problem with my Dell Vostro 1700, the pc runs on a Intel T7500 cpu 2,2GHz. The problem is that the cpu only runs on a clock frequency of 1,2 GHz, I tried using the stress function in to stress the cpu max. Even then the cpu was still stuck on 1,2Ghz. When I tried the same test on a latitude of a friend of mine with a 1,8Ghz cpu, it was on 800Mhz while nothing where used, when he did the stress test it popped up to 1,8Ghz at once.
Today I called Dell and told them about my problem, they told me to turn off the speedstep function in the bios, this didnt help anything. Hope some souls can help me here. My garanty is gone and the pc is only 2 years old so...

Are there any other symptoms such as failure to recognize the AC adapter?
Do not turn off the speedstep function - that will lock the CPU into low speed operation.

Where can I check if it recognizes the AC- adapter? That could be an issue indeed, since the battery is totally wasted, so I always run the pc on power.
