Problems installing HP All in One Software on new 9200!

I just got an HP office jet 7140xi. I wanted to connect it use the print server. After many hours with HP tech support, they are elling me that there are some issues with the software, and SP2. Hass anyone else run into this problem? They suggested that I uninstall the SP2 and try again. NO THANKS!

what is the exact error (or issue) you are running into?

i installed mine on a desktop with XP home SP2 and had it pull the 0x00000009: IRQL_NOT_GREATER_OR_EQUAL stop error

what i found is that i had to install the software first (printer not physically connected to system) then connect the printer and it works like a champion!

hope this is helpful (i can relate to the hours of pain) :smileyhappy:

Cheers!

pborzel,
Mine is the 7140xi. I'm not sure if the 7400 series or the 9100 series use the same software. Again, I am connecting through the network, not the USB cable. Since I posted this problem, I've returned the printer to Fry's for repairs. They gave a 7110xi while mine is being worked on. The repair could take 6-8 weeks. The 7110 is doing the same thing as my 7140xi. I have had two problems with this printer. First, I needed to load the sun jave console, because after going through the entire install process, I would get an error saying that the java class was not registered. After loading the sun java, the software installed with no errors. Now hen I load the software, I can find the printers print server, and configure everything. I can even go to the embedded web page on the server and scan a picture. The peooblem is that after installing the software, you are asked to reboot. When I reboot, a registration and fax setup window should come up. None of this happens. The print director shows that the printer is not connected. If anyone has a fix, please let me know.
Thsnks,
