Hi,

Welcome to the Community. Did you completely format your hard drive and reinstall Windows XP? Did you use the CD that came with the computer? Check if you have a restore point, to restore your computer. Click on start, all programs, accessories, system tools, system restore. Click restore my computer to an earlier time, and click next, select a date in Bold when the computer was working fine, and click next and follow the onscreen instructions to restore your computer.

Thank you

Royan

Royan,

Thank you for your reply and information.

I contacted Microsoft and they were totally useless,so I contacted DELL and after 45 minutes of talking with them,PROBLEM was solved and its all now fixed.I needed to redownload the CD that I had and also reformat it which I have now done.

I am back to square one and ready to use the laptop again.

Thanks for your assistance and interest.

The D600 would not reinstall with DELL XP using a Robins Egg Blue XP CD.  You would need a Green XP SP2 or earlier Dell CD for it to not require ACTIVATION.   The Robins Egg Blue CD is for Dell Systems with Vista Business installed

The COA for XP vs XP SP2 vs XP SP3 are not interchangeable.
