Profilic USB TO SERIAL COMM Port for WIN 7 Professional SERVICE PACK 1

This is a common problem and not isolated to Dell.  I have a home built system using an Intel motherboard and that USB/Serial adapter will install OK with plug and play but it will not work.  My wife has a Singer Embroidery Machine and it will not communicate with the Embroidery Machine.    I have a new Windows 7 Lenovo Laptop and the exact same thing using the Laptop.  

I have an older Dell Dimension E510 with Vista 32 bit and a different model USB/Serial adapter and that one adapter works OK and I can interface with the Embroidery Machine.  

You will have to try a different vendor's USB/Serial adapter and see if it will work.  If you are lucky you will find one that works.

Also, remember, the PC does not have to be compatible with any add on device, the device must be compatible with the PC.

Dears,   Please reply me as i cannt anle to install PROFILIC USB TO SERIAL COMM PORT Driver in MY Brand new DELL LATTITUDE E5420. i need to have COMM port as we can use USB TO SERIAL Driver for WIN XP/VISTA... I checked many forums and installed some for WIN 7 but unable to get it done correclty...I need supprort from You people.. Please see this issue...Rest i am pretty happy from MY LATTITUDE E5420   THANKS , WAQAR

You might have better luck with an ExpressCard to serial port device.

I also ran into a problem with a Serial port card on my home built Win 7 system with an Intel motherboard, at least trying to interface with the Singer Embroidery machine.  Since I have a Vista machine that works with the USB/Serial adapter (my Dell Dimension E510) I haven't pursued it any further.

I suspect it is related to Windows 7.  Why? but I have two Win 7 PC's that won't work with the USB serial adapters (three different adapters) and a Win 7 machine that won't work with the RS232C PCI card.  But an older hardware Vista machine that does work with at least one of the USB/Serial adapters.   I don't have an RS232 breakout box that I can monitor the individual signals with.

Hi Please Confirm me should i go for Express Card to Serial port device as you mentioned above..

HAVE YOU TRIED IT ON WIN 7, IS IT WORKING ON WIINDOW 7 PROFESSIONAL SP-1???

waiting for replies have any 1 tried with WINDOW 7 this USB to Serial connection and which driver for WIN 7 for this matter i want to communicate to my telecom devices via COMM AND IN XP we can install serial to usb profilic driver and communicate like this but cannt in WIN 7
