Question about vPro and whether a system has it or not and can it be added or disabled?
Hi, I am going to purchase a computer from the Dell Outlet and was wondering if I could enable or disable vPro? Is it built into the motherboard or is it just a property of certain CPUs? I see in the Dell Outlet list whether the system has vPro or not however the system that I am trying to match it with does not specifically specify if it has vPro or not or whether it is just disabled.

That is the detailed view of the system. Does this system have vPro or not or does it have it and is just disabled?
Thank you.

So are the ones listed as "NO INTEL VPRO TECHNOLOGY ADV MGMT FEATURES" just VPRO disabled? These are all from Latitude E6430 listed in the Dell Outlet. I just want to make sure I purchase a computer that will not have any compatibility issues with drivers as the one listed above because my laptop will be flashed with an image of a system with the exact specs listed above.

The Latitude and Optiplex systems should have full VPro support -- the consumer-grade systems (Inspiron/XPS/Vostro) won't. I know all the recent Latitude systems I've worked with have it.

Thank you for the reply. I see that in the Dell Outlet there are many CPUs in system configs that support vPro based on Intel site but it says "NO INTEL VPRO TECHNOLOGY ADV MGMT FEATURES". Does the system above have "NO INTEL VPRO TECHNOLOGY ADV MGMT FEATURES" or "INTEL VPRO TECHNOLOGY ADV MGMT FEATURES"

Vpro is a function of the CPU, and that one does support it.

Unless you're going to have someone remotely manage your system, you do not need AMT.

The list above has part number 331-5836 next to systems management which I searched and found this:
No Intel vPro Technology Advanced Management Features, Dell Latitude E6430/S/ATG (331-5836)

Just to clarify, should I get an E6430 that states "NO INTEL VPRO TECHNOLOGY ADV MGMT FEATURES" or "INTEL VPRO TECHNOLOGY ADV MGMT FEATURES"? All the systems have the same CPU but some state one way and some state the other. Which one should I get to match closest to the specification I have listed above in the original listing because in the parts listing I don't see any mention of VPRO in the listing above.

Do you need the Intel AMT, or are you looking to use VPro for another purpose?

I am not sure whether I need it or not but this system will be used for school purposes and the spec that I need to purchase is listed above. I am trying to save money by purchasing through the Dell Outlet that exact configuration or at least a configuration as close as possible to the one above.

The Intel management chip is missing from the models that state it's not there. While the Intel AMT requires VPro, it's a separate at-purchase option - if you need the remote management, make sure the system has it. It's a separate issue from VPro, which IS included with the system you were looking at.
