RAM Upgrade
Hello,
I upgraded on my studio 1558 laptop from 4GB RAM to 8GB RAM DDR3 (2X4GB) and my computer is still only reading it as four GB running. How can I get windows to know that it now has 8?

I have a 64-bit system and it still says 4GB on my BIOS. I bought RAM that was compatible with it and installed it completely correctly so any other suggestions.

You need to have a 64-bit version of Windows -- if it's 32-bit, it won't read the other 4G.
Control panel - system- system and security - view RAM and processor info.
Does the BIOS read the RAM as 8G? F2 at powerup.

Sounds like one of the modules - or one of the memory sockets - is bad.
