Hi manojkothiwala,

Welcome to Dell Community.

Inspiron 15R (5520) is designed to support maximum of 8GB of memory. The type of memory for this system depends on the processor installed on your system

1333MHz DDR3 for Sandy Bridge Processors

1600MHz DDR3 for Ivy Bridge Processors

Your laptop has two memory slots so you will have to put 2 memory modules of 4GB each.

You can buy Memory RAM Upgrades for your Dell Inspiron Notebook 15R (5520) for 4GB. You install the memory sticks of 4GB on another slot.

Here is the link http://dell.to/1juE9N0 for prices and availability of parts and upgrades for this system.
You can download the manual for instructions on how to replace ram.

Let me know if you need more help and we'll be happy to help.

You can purchase additional 4 GB of RAM either from Dell (if under warranty) or from any third party store and install it yourself. The following links will be helpful:

Kindly note that Electro Static Discharge (ESD) safety measures must be maintained to prevent RAM and other components from damaging due to ESD.
